Want to get away after Easter and enjoy some quality sailing in a blue-water paradise....
Register your entry now for Sail Port Stephens 2009 – a regatta that has something for everyone – on and off the water.
SLAM, the official clothing partner of Sail Port Stephens, has got some great gear packs on offer for new entries to the event, but you need to get your entry finalised by the end of January.
It’s an easy sail from Sydney, and family and friends not wanting to get there by water can take the F3 option, arriving in Port Stephens in less than 3 hours. You can cruise up at your own leisure or race – Pittwater to Newcastle on Saturday the 18th for an overnight stop and celebration at Newcastle Cruising yacht Club’s gorgeous new clubhouse before heading off again on Sunday the 19th for the final leg to Port Stephens.
A fabulous week then awaits – 3 days of a cruisey racing in the Commodores Cup from Monday to Wednesday –  sailed in the same spirit as twilight sailing - with a few hours on the water and plenty of social catch up and relax time.
There’s social fun each night, from a sunset BBQ on the boardwalk at Peppers on Monday to a prize giving dinner and gathering on Wednesday – as well as discount deals at the restaurants at d’Albora marina for you to dine at your leisure on Tuesday night.
Have a day off on Thursday and enjoy lunch for the boys at Peppers and lunch for the girls at Shoal Bay Resort and Spa before the competition starts all over again on Friday – featuring the Yachting NSW IRC Championship and the Port Stephens Trophy (PHS) from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 April.
If you can’t make the whole week – maybe race your boat up the weekend before with the rest of the fleet, and come back to race across the Anzac Day weekend.
There’s plenty of activity on offer to make a weekend out of it for friends and family who don’t necessarily want to go sailing – they can enjoy a spectator cruise on the Bay, a laid back lunch somewhere nice in the sun, chill out at the day spa at Shoal Bay or at Peppers or take the kids to a number of local attractions.
It’s all happening, and it’s all only 3 hours drive from Sydney...
